Our school

Rollingstone State School began in 1916, officially opening on the 4th of September with an enrolment of 28 students. It was called Rollingstone after the meandering creek that flows past the school. The school has continued to grow over the years and has a current enrolment of approximately 70  students. The school follows the Australian National Curriculum and teaches multi-age classes from prep through to year 7.

The school day begins at 9.00 am and finishes at 3.00 pm. Students are engaged in lessons which focus on knowledge, skills and understandings of learning areas (science, english, mathematics, history, geography, health and physical education, studies of society and the environment and LOTE), while continuing to emphasise the development of literacy and numeracy skills. Students engage in using ICT effectively and appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively in all learning areas at Rollingstone State School.

An overarching value of Rollingstone State School is to promote environmental sustainability across all year levels. Students engage in the Reef Guardian Schools projects and have developed a positive relationship with the Scientists in Schools project, Tangaroa Blue and Teach Wild. We have a specialist science teacher who works across the whole school. Each year the students participate in the annual Beach Walk to clean up our local beach and protect our local environment. Rollingstone State School has been the proud recipient of the Order of Australia Award – Primary Division for our Rolly Rangers Environmental Project based at Crystal Creek.

Our school is very proud to be a part of the Chaplains in Schools Program and our school Chappy works across all classes to promote student well being.

Rollingstone State School implements the Peer Support Program. This program is a values laden program that teaches students life skills through peer led groups. It is a whole school approach to enhance the mental, social and emotional wellbeing of our students.

Rollingstone State School motto “Aim High.”
